In writing this post and thinking back on last weekend, I am filled with such gratitude. Erin and I hosted our second TalkShop here at our studio and in typical OC fashion, the local photographers who attended were simply amazing. In our first couple of slides that morning (yes, I made a Keynote presentation, and it’s as amazing as you’re imagining. Haha), I had in big bold letters…”So why host a workshop?”
Honestly, it’s because we love talking about photography, and sharing the journey that we’re on. Believe me, it’s not been a road paved with gold…we’ve made mistakes…zigged when we should have zagged. Jumped when we should have ducked. And while we know every photographer is different, we wanted at least have a place where we can all get together and talk about it openly and without any superficiality. Especially when you’re just starting out in photography, there are a TON of decisions to make; it can be overwhelming. Take away even the technical side of photography and you have a monstrous task ahead of you.
So if there was anything we could do to help make that monster a little smaller, we wanted to do it. And so the TalkShop was born.
It was such an amazing day, and by the end of the night, we were all each other’s close friends and biggest fans! Erin and I are so excited to see where this group goes in their careers. And if they are anything like the last group we had; they are destined for great things.
We ended the afternoon hours with an absolutely GORGEOUS shoot with a past bride and groom of ours Briana and Brandon.
Our unending gratitude goes to Gianna SanFilippo of Chic Celebrations who once again styled an amazing shoot for us which was held on the grounds of Strawberry Farms here in Irvine. Drawing her inspiration from the always inspirational Snippet and Ink, her team brought together such an etherial atmosphere; it was fantastic!
It was truly an amazing day filled with laughter, learning, and growth on all accounts, and we are so thankful to have met such an inspiring group of photographers!
We’ll be updating this post with links to the attendees blogs from the TalkShop as well. Something tells me they’ll be much more eloquent :)
Again, we have to thank everyone who made this possible!
Here are a few shots from the day, we can’t wait until next time! We’ll set up another TalkShop date as soon as enough people ask for one, so if you’re interested in a future date please let us know! We can’t wait!
