One year ago…

It was a little over a year ago…and I was up early. Standing in the middle of a courtyard, my back turned to the high heeled foot steps that approached behind me. “Be calm…just breathe,” I told myself.

And then I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw the most beautiful woman in the world. I couldn’t help it, my eyes filled with tears.

“I get to marry her today,” I thought. “What did I ever do to deserve such a person as this?”

Well, my dear friends, it’s a year later and I still can’t figure it out for the life of me! All that I do know is that it was an amazing year with the love of my life, and I can only pray for 80 more!

It’s been a crazy busy season, in the best of ways. But with our first anniversary approaching we knew we needed to take some time to get away no matter what! Quietly, I was planning our trip (I’m very sneaky). Erin’s only job was to sit back and let me plot our trip :)

The result, as you’ll see, was 4 days of Erin’s heaven on earth. Amongst the red rocks of Utah, we stayed at the beautiful Red Mountain Resort and Spa, a place she had been dreaming of going for over 6 years. Hikes in the morning, strength training and cooking classes after lunch, and yoga in the evening. Our days were packed with the perfect combination of fitness and relaxation! I know most people wouldn’t even dream of putting those two words in the same sentence, but if you know my wife, you know that’s her idea of a vacation! And I must admit, it was pretty awesome! I can honestly say my pants fit better AFTER our trip, so it was a win-win!

So, most of these photos were taken with an iPhone, but nonetheless we wanted to share some of our trip with you! Thank you all for making our first year one we’ll never forget!
